In recent days, a post by investor Bruno Perini drew attention by bringing up an important reflection on a topic that often goes unnoticed by most Brazilians: the loss of purchasing power of our currency.

Using official IBGE data, the post shows that since the launch of the Real Plan in July 1994, accumulated inflation has exceeded 790%. In practice, this means that the R$ 100 that bought a cartful of groceries in 1994 now has purchasing power equivalent to approximately R$ 11.20.

The Real Plan was a milestone for the Brazilian economy. It ended hyperinflation and brought monetary stability to the country. However, stability does not mean preservation of wealth. Inflation continues to exist and, over time, silently erodes the purchasing power of the currency.

This scenario leads to an important reflection: how to protect the wealth built over a lifetime?

The answer is not to abandon Brazil, but to diversify.

Just as no expert recommends concentrating all investments in a single company or sector, it also makes no sense to concentrate 100% of your assets in a single currency.

That is precisely why asset dollarization has been gaining ground among entrepreneurs, investors, and business families.

However, dollarizing assets does not mean simply buying dollars.

It means owning assets that preserve value in stable economies and are less exposed to fluctuations of a single currency.

A simple example helps to understand this logic.

About ten years ago, assets of R$ 100,000 allowed you to acquire around US$ 30,000, considering the exchange rate at that time. Those who chose to keep part of their assets dollarized preserved their exposure to a strong currency. Those who remained exclusively exposed to the real continued to be subject to the effects of inflation and currency devaluation.

This is not to say that the dollar is an investment. It is about understanding that diversifying currencies is also a form of risk management.

It is in this context that Paraguay has been attracting increasing interest among Brazilian entrepreneurs.

For many years, the country was associated almost exclusively with border trade. Today, this reality has completely changed.

Paraguay has become one of the most stable economic environments in South America. It has one of the lowest public debts in the region, internationally recognized fiscal discipline, and recently achieved Investment Grade status, a recognition granted by the main international credit rating agencies, reflecting market confidence in the country's economic stability and its ability to honor its commitments.

Another important differentiator is its proximity to Brazil.

Unlike markets such as the United States or Europe, Paraguay allows Brazilian entrepreneurs to internationalize part of their assets practically next door.

Furthermore, a large part of real estate, industrial, and logistics transactions use the dollar as a reference, providing a natural way to gain exposure to a strong currency through real assets.

The growth of industry, logistics, business condominiums, and real estate investments has attracted Brazilian and international companies, driving a new cycle of economic development.

More than seeking higher profitability, many entrepreneurs are using Paraguay as a long-term asset protection strategy.

Far beyond real estate

Opportunities in Paraguay go far beyond the real estate market.

For those who wish to internationalize their businesses or structure part of their assets in the country, obtaining Paraguayan residency and opening a local bank account can represent an important step within an international asset planning strategy.

Currently, subject to the rules of Paraguayan tax legislation, tax residents in Paraguay may, in certain situations, receive profits and dividends from abroad with quite competitive tax treatment, making the country an increasingly considered alternative in international asset, corporate, and succession planning.

In addition, Paraguay offers opportunities in real estate investments, industrial parks, logistics centers, exporting companies, energy projects, agribusiness, and real estate development funds, allowing entrepreneurs to diversify not only currencies but also markets and assets.

Brazil will continue to be an excellent country for entrepreneurship and investment. Paraguay emerges as an important complement for those who wish to protect assets, expand markets, and build a solid international strategy.

Internationalization is no longer a reality exclusive to large multinationals. Today, it is also within reach of the Brazilian entrepreneur.
